Legacy Equity Advisors was founded by Marcellus Taylor who is a Harvard MBA and former Morgan Stanley investment banker and Boston Consulting Group consultant.
In 2003, Taylor co-founded Aldus Equity as a private equity firm that grew to manage capital on behalf of some of the largest pensions in the US, including New York Common Retirement, New York City Employees Retirement, Louisiana Employees Retirement and Wal-Mart.
In 2004, Taylor co-invested in the $80 million buyout of Picadilly Cafeterias led by Yucaipa Companies.
In 2005, Taylor co-invested alongside Goldman Sachs and 21st Century Group in Urban Radio Communications.
In 2006, Taylor co-invested in the $18 billion buyout of Clear Channel Communications (now iHeart Media) led by Bain Capital and Thomas H. Lee Partners.
In 2006, Taylor co-invested in the $15 billion buyout of Hertz Corporation led by Carlyle Group and Clayton Dubilier & Rice.
In 2007, Taylor co-invested in the $3.1 billion buyout of Claire’s Stores, Inc. led by Apollo Management.
In 2008, Taylor was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Texas Public Finance Authority by Texas Governor Rick Perry.
In 2012, Taylor launched Legacy Equity Advisors as a private equity firm that managed a $50 million fund for The California Endowment.
In 2019, Taylor partnered with Jay Z’s Roc Nation, Bain Capital and Dallas private equity investor Tom Hicks to submit a $3.6 billion unsolicited bid to buy Cricket Prepaid Wireless from AT&T.
In 2023, Taylor became Vice President of Investments for Choctaw Global Strategic Investments which is the third largest Indian Tribe in the US.
In 1992, Taylor graduated with a BBA in Finance from SMU and in 1997 an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Graduating from Columbia Law School in 2004, he served in the distinguished role as Managing Editor of the Columbia Law Review.
David commenced his career in the corporate department at Kaye Scholer’s New York office, gaining extensive experience in their public and private securities practice on behalf of registrants, issuers, and shareholders.
He has over 20 years’ experience in capital markets, mergers & acquisitions , securities issuances, and other areas of private and corporate law. David brings broad, practical experience to Legacy’s private equity investments and corporate finance activities.
